The Florida Times-Union: Popular restaurant The Bread & Board opens online specialty marketplace
Bread & Board Provisions, the new specialty marketplace from The Bread & Board restaurant in Jacksonville recently opened online.
The Bread & Board restaurant, well-known throughout Northeast Florida for its baked in-house artisan breads as well as its gourmet meats and cheeses, has opened a specialty online marketplace.
Bread & Board Provisions — an offshoot of the Jacksonville restaurant — offers specially curated fresh food and gourmet goods directly to customers through it marketplace website launched Friday.
Customers can shop online at Bread & Board Provisions as well as order from The Bread & Board restaurant, 1030 Oak St. in Five Points, at its combined website.
In March, Dwayne Beliakoff, restaurant co-founder, announced that Bread & Board Provisions will be part of a new restaurant being opened in the VyStar Credit Union’s headquarters in downtown Jacksonville later this year.
“The online marketplace concept is something that we’ve been getting requests for ever since announcing our physical location that will open this fall at the VyStar Credit Union headquarters campus downtown,” Beliakoff, said in a news release Friday.
The new marketplace will carry some of Northeast Florida’s most well-known brands. It also will provide downtown workers and residents with more shopping options.
“For weeks folks have been asked to stay in their homes, and we wanted to make sure they also have access to some of the best tastes, freshest products and, possibly, a new culinary experience,” Beliakoff said about the launch of the online marketplace.
For some people, he said, “these days have been a great opportunity to try different flavors and test new recipes.”
“And by gathering up some of our favorite local products we are able to provide a little inspiration to do just that. It is a great way to introduce the products at Bread & Board Provisions,” Beliakoff said.
Bread & Board Provisions offers personally assembled produce boxes or an a la carte selection of seasonally focused and regionally sourced food and goods.
Among the available items:
‒ Assorted produce boxes with a variety of seasonal produce straight from the farm to your home. Enough to serve four.
‒ Seasonal local produce items such as tomatoes, berries, eggplant, peppers, specialty lettuce, cucumbers and more from local small farms and partners such as Traders Hill Farms in Hilliard.
‒ Locally blended spices, gourmet staples and handcrafted special blends from local spice artisan Saturiwa Trading Company.
‒ A la carte prepared food items including signature Bread & Board sliced meats, pasta and fresh deli salads, spreads, jams, salad dressings, and egg, tuna and chicken salads.
‒ Craft beer sample boxes — assembled by Jacksonville resident beer expert Kelly Pickard from Alewife Craft Beer Bottle Shop & Tasting Room in Five Points.
‒ Specialty pet supplies and treats from Jacksonville pet store and daycare BARK on PARK and BARK on MAIN.
The items carried in Bread & Board Provisions as well as the full menu from The Bread & Board restaurant are available for pick up or in-house delivery.
The new delivery service covers homes within a 5-mile radius of The Bread & Board’s Five Points location, including neighborhoods in downtown Jacksonville, Murray Hill, Riverside, San Marco and Springfield.
Local food, beverage and retail partners include Bee Friends Farm, Congaree and Penn, and Martin Coffee Company.
The restaurateurs soon will open another location of The Bread & Board at 4413 Town Center Parkway, Suite 201, at St. Johns Town Center North.
No opening date has been announced as yet.
